Veteran Habitat Build 2017

Veterans and active military joined Sea Island Habitat, led by former Habitat employee and Army veteran Dan Glass, to help build a Habitat home. We provided t-shirts, lunches, and construction guidance. The volunteers provided the energy. Check out our accomplishments below!

  • We honored our vets. This special event paid tribute to veterans, combining their work ethic and passion for helping others with Habitat's mission of bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope.
  • We strengthened the support network for vets. Construction experiences build strong bonds among fellow volunteers. These relationships can create a network for our vets so that they can help one another transition to and succeed in civilian life.
  • We moved a veteran's family one step closer to dependable housing. Safe, decent, affordable housing is the centerpiece of all Habitat construction. The future homeowner of this house, Tonya, contributed "sweat equity" all weekend alongside her fellow veterans.
  • We raised money to purchase materials for this home. This event was free to all veterans and active military, but we welcomed donations from community members who couldn't volunteer and wanted to support the cause.  We raised $30,000.

We still need you..
